Dr. Dunagan on the news

In case you missed it, Dr. Deason Dunagan was recently featured in a story on WHNT 19.    We appreciate Bill Neville for allowing us to follow him through his journey to find a younger looking self.

LifeSculpt

We've had lots of inquiries about the LifeSculpt procedure since Dr. Oz aired a segment about it a few weeks ago. Here's another informative look at this procedure, how it works and its results.

Dunagan, Yates & Alison is currently the only practice in Alabama with the capabilitiy to perform LifeSculpt procedures.

Why No Surgery Fees ?

We are often asked why we don't post prices for surgery on our website.  The easiest answer is "it depends on the patient".     Every patient is different.  So, every surgery is customized to meet your needs and goals.

Many factors go into how much a procedure costs.  Such as:

  • Type  and complexity of procedure
  • Time and effort your procedure requires (do you have a little bit of tissue to remove or a large amount?)
  • Type of equipment needed for the procedure (liposuction, lasers, etc.)

Additional elements of the total cost may include:

  • Anesthesia fees
  • Operating room fees
  • Hospital or surgical center stay
  • Lab fees
  • Type of device being implanted
  • and more

If you have a question, please call to schedule an appointment for a consultation.  A consult with a nurse is free and a surgeon consult costs $50.  We will give you a surgery fee quote after your initial consultation.

Mommy Makeovers are Sweeping the Valley

Mommy makeovers have grown in popularity in recent years because an increasing number of moms are realizing that they do not have to give up looking and feeling attractive in order to raise a family. While some women are fortunate enough that their bodies easily "bounce back" after pregnancy, most women need a little boost to get their looks back on track.

While there is no technical definition, a mommy makeover generally combines liposuction and abdominoplasty (a "tummy tuck") with some type of breast surgery, such as breast augmentation, to help moms improve the look of their bodies after pregnancy.

Many moms want the joys of having a family without sacrificing their looks, which are an important part of their self-image. The idea of 'having it all,' while it can be stressful for some women, is empowering for others who have a particular idea of what they want their lives to be about.

DYA customizes the set of mommy makeover procedures to fit each individual patient.   After pregnancy, the primary area of concern for women looking to reshape their bodies is the stomach/abdomen, which oftentimes does not "bounce back" after childbirth, even with proper diet and a hearty exercise routine. Mommy makeovers almost always include an abdominoplasty, which most women refer to as a "tummy tuck." Occasionally, there is residual fat which can be contoured with liposuction.

Many women also choose cosmetic breast surgery as part of their mommy makeovers. With a breast lift and/or breast augmentation, moms can love the look of their breasts and feel more energized about their appearance. The reality is that pregnancy often causes unwelcome changes to the shape and position of the breasts. A breast augmentation can  restore breast volume lost during pregnancy, while a breast lift is used to reposition breasts that have begun to sag.

The greatest benefit to a mommy makeover combination surgery is the patient is able to enjoy a faster recovery and quickly return to caring for her family.

Trust Your Liquid Facelift to the Largest Botox Cosmetic and Juvederm Injectors in Alabama

You've probably heard a lot about liquid facelifts in the news and on popular TV shows like Rachael Ray. This non-surgical, multi-step treatment is one of our most popular wrinkle correction treatment.  But, what you may not know is that Dunagan, Yates and Alison is the largest Botox and Juvederm practice in the state of Alabama.  We've got the necessary experience to make you look your best.

The liquid facelift is the perfect option for men and women who want to look younger quickly and without the downtime of surgery.  Plus, it is affordable.

The liquid facelift involves volumizing and refining areas of the face through the use of BOTOX® Cosmetic and dermal fillers, such as Juvéderm™. A combination of these dermal products, which are composed of different materials and injected at varying depths, are chosen for specific facial applications and are often layered to provide optimal results and longer lasting improvement. The final result is a naturally youthful and rejuvenated appearance.

The added facial volume and wrinkle refinement is immediate with enhanced results after four or five days, once the Botox takes effect.  Results can last from six months to a year or even longer in some cases.
The Liquid Facelift is completely customized to your unique needs. The type of dermal fillers used and the application are determined during an in-depth complimentary consultation with one of our physicians.

You can learn more about liquid facelifts at www.liquidfacelift.com.

Treating Spider Veins

alt alt

Despite what the recent weather might have us believe, Spring has officially sprung and that means many of you might be itching to wear shorts as the weather heats up. One of the number one complaints we get from women is about spider veins. Spider veins are those tiny purplish or blue blood vessels that are visible on the surface of the skin. They commonly occur on the legs, but can surface on the face as well.

Dr. Oz has a nice video about spider veins versus varicose veins, how they form and some treatment options. Please take a look at the video above.

At DYA, we can often successfully treat spider veins on the face and body through the use of laser-based procedures. Lyra laser light is attracted to the bluish color in leg veins and vaporizes the vein. The vein is sealed off, and disappears. For facial veins, the Aura laser is used for treatment. We have found that most patients with leg veins usually require 3-5 treatments. Facial veins may need 2-3 treatments.

Dr. Oz Deems LifeSculpt™ "Wonderful"

alt alt

Last week Dr. Oz featured the new LifeSculpt procedure on his popular TV talkshow. Dr. Oz was joined by Kenneth Rothaus, MD, a board-certified plastic surgeon in New York City and an early clinical user of the SlimLipo laser. The technology was featured during the "Age Erasers!" segment of Wednesday's show. Dr. Rothaus discussed with Dr. Oz how a laser-based enhancement to liposuction can help patients look and feel better by "melting" unwanted fat (lipolysis) and tightening skin through soft tissue coagulation -- offering patients a more desirable, youthful look.

Dr. Rothaus remarked, "SlimLipo has transformed my liposuction practice. My patients are demanding these types of procedures. Since there's virtually no bruising or post-procedure pain, these patients are often back to work the same day."

Drs. Oz and Rothaus were joined by a female patient who, having had a SlimLipo treatment to her "turkey neck" by Dr. Rothaus just one week ago, revealed her impressive result. Drs. Oz and Rothaus also demonstrated the SlimLipo laser in the studio, showing how quickly it melts fat.

Click on the video above and go to about 1:40 to see the segment.

Dunagan, Yates and Alison now offers the LifeSculpt™ procedure with the SlimLipo™ system featured on the Dr. Oz show.

The LifeSculpt™ procedure uses an advanced laser body sculpting system called SlimLipo™, which features fat "melting" laser wavelengths that gently liquefy fat. The liquefied fat is then permanently removed from the body, using a medical suction device, through a few tiny incisions.

Because LifeSculpt is gentle on the body, physicians usually use only a local anesthesia, allowing you to stay awake and quickly resume your normal daily activities. Of course, every patient and procedure is different, so talk this over with us to see what works best for you.
